water.europa.eu Background The reporting contents and formats are the result of a long development process within WGD, which started to work in 2003 Agreement based on consensus (CIS method) Reporting exercises in –2004: paper based –2005: paper and electronic –2007: only electronic Consolidated reporting guidance agreed in November 2008 Intensive work in to develop schemas and tools 2010 reporting contents –XML files –GIS files –Electronic versions of RBMP, POMs and background documents 3

Commission assessment The Commission will develop a factual Summary of WISE electronic delivery that will present all the information submitted electronically in a readable format, consolidated certain information in tables/charts This summary and the electronic versions of the RBMPs, POMs and background documents will be the basis of the Commission assessment Overall approach for assessment included in a concept paper discussed with the Water Directors in December 2009 Once reported the files will be subject to QA and feedback will be given on detected issues to solve them and eventually make a re- submission (see Documents n. 1 and n. 3 for the details on quality checks that will be done) The information will eventually be displayed in WISE (to be discussed at WG D what, how and when 8

water.europa.eu Expectations (1/2) Morning will be dedicated more to process explanations Afternoon will be dedicated to contents Helpdesk Log and questions submitted in advance of the meeting will be distributed as room documents (during the coffee break) –Responses have been included: raise your issues at the meeting if you still need further clarification or discussion To the extent possible, please look at the room documents before posing your questions, just in case the issue has been already raised and replied 9
