Regulated river Morava downstream the town Hodonín, running along riverrine forests represents practically ready-made stretch of the water corridor D-O-E.

First km of the water corridor D-O-E at Lobau by Vienna. Now it is separated by antiflood dyke.

First km of the water corridor D-O-E at Lobau by Vienna now.

First km of the water corridor D-O-E at Děvín by Bratislava. Confluence Morava and Danube.

First km of the water corridor D-O-E in Poland. Port of Kozle and Gliwice channel.

Connection of the Gliwice channel to the branch D-O in Poland.

Environmental aspects of the D-O-E Connection Example: Example: new trajectory of the corridor in the Oder protected landscape area; newly designed shallow water zones;

Costs of the Project The whole water corridor D-O-E The whole water corridor D-O-E Danube-Kozle-Pardubice … cca 510 km public funds of the countries on the waterway European Union funds bank loans bonds direct implementation of project

Revenues Even at extremely pessimistic assumptions, the value of IRR exceeds 10 %, i.e. higher than the level of 6 % that is deemed to be an admissible minimum at infrastructure investments. At optimistic assumptions it ranges around 20 %. It is therefore possible to say, without any overstatement, that a similar favourable effectiveness is demonstrated at few investments in the area of infrastructure. 8 years after putting the first stage into operation, the value of the balance starts to be positive and after next 5 years all of the costs spent until then will have been paid back. Here, it is really possible to talk about effectiveness indicators attained only in a very few infrastructure projects.

Water corridor D-O-E in present time Traffic load in western part of the Europe reach the critical values and has bad influence to transport capacity and environment. Czech Republic is situated in the centre of the Europe, on the commodity flow between N-W industrial producing centre and S-E consumption centre including India and China. Economical potencial is moving from Western Europe to Middle and Eastern Europe. This development would be faster than constructing of higher transport capacity in new EU members. Water corridor Danube-Oder-Elbe is high-quality offer how to improve european transport corridors with using combine transport and other benefits. Special governmental commission revaluated land protection of the corridor D-O-E in urban plans with positive result! Intergovernmental consultations are in progress in this time.
