What is anger management? “ We can look at the purposes of anger in both a positive and negative light. The positive aspects of anger are that you have increased energy, are able to communicate your feelings, able to problem solve and can take charge of the situation. The negative aspects of anger are that you can have disruption of your thinking, unnecessarily defend yourself, become aggressive and become known as an angry person. Anger management would be seen then as increasing the positive aspects or functions of anger and decreasing the negative functions of anger.”

Anger affecting your daily life It can put strain on a relationship You have small social life because of episodes You have few friends People tend to stay away from you so they don’t have to deal with your anger Mental stress could result in sudden cardiac arrest

Control your anger Let yourself show anger Don’t hurt others in the process Forgive others for what made you angry Except it when you are wrong Leave the location where your anger originated from Mentality Gather yourself in a new location Try and solve the problem

Anger and Drugs Most people don’t realize that their drug addiction is connected to underlying anger Anger pushes people to become addicted cocaine when they don’t know how to relieve there stress When suppressing your anger with a drug it tends to build up and cause anxiety and depression The angry drug addict has now have to get a “dual diagnosed" to receive proper treatment for there depression or anxiety

Is anger ever a good thing “ Anger is definately good when it is used for the release of and utilization of the energy of anger, communication of your feelings, problem-solving and taking charge of a situation. These are the good functions of anger. Anger is damaging when it disrupts our thinking, we use it to always defend ourselves, harm others and develop an identity as an angry person.” Keeps your body and mind alert and ready for a stressful situations Its healthy to feel angry Can cause people to listen to your concerns Prevents people from taking advantage of you Anger cuts thinking time so you can react faster The way your parents react to there anger can teach you how to deal with yours

How can you tell when you need anger management help If you where taught that being angry is a bad thing you might need help learning how to express your anger the correct way If you lash out into anger outbursts over small situations Out of control violence (expression) When you try to keep yourself from getting angry so you wont loose control (suppression)
