Viking Military Structure There was very little formal structure by way of military rank in Viking armies. As a rule the term dreng is applied to a young warrior, and ðegn to a more mature member of a boat's crew. The only two specifically military posts referred to at the time were the merkismathr, the standard bearer ( an honoured position since many Viking standards were said to have magical properties ), and the stallari or marshal - the king's deputy in the field.

Osama Bin Laden’s Organization It is not tightly knit with a clear command structure. It is a loose coalition of groups operating across continents. He has been described as a "venture capitalist" of Islamic extremism - running "Jihad Inc" and its subsidiary "Jihad-Dot- Com".

High Tech – High Touch It is embracing technology that preserves our humanness and rejecting technology that intrudes upon it. It is recognizing that technology is an integral part of the evolution of culture, the creative product of our imaginations, our dreams and aspirations – and that the desire to create new technologies is fundamentally instinctive. But is also recognizing that art, story, play, religion, nature, and time are equal partners in the evolution of technology because they nourish the soul and fulfill its yearnings. It is expressing what it means to be human and employing technology fruitfully in that expression.

HERMAN MILLER 'GREENHOUSE' FACTORY & OFFICES Two major goals of the project were to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration (by simultaneously increasing production and shortening market response time) and to optimize the impact of a large building on the environment and the community. In addition to meeting these goals, WM+P provided a building with abundant natural light and fresh air within an atmosphere of informality and spatial openness. William McDonough + Partners
