GENERAL PERSON  Shared across all data implementations Student (eight instances), Finance, HR (five instances)  At time of entry there is no system affiliation  Becomes a student, employee or vendor when a key form is entered in a system. For HR it is PEAEMPL.  Multiple data ‘types’ for addresses and telephone numbers. Specific ones procedurally assigned to different systems.

 Employee Class / EClass - Generally similar to the HRS job code. Two characters where the first character is a number 1 – 8 and indicates the agency and the second the employee classification. Is used to establish rules for eligible earnings, leave accrual and benefits eligibility. In Banner HR the average fringe benefit rate, or chargeback rate in Banner, is associated with the EClass.  BDCA – a three-character code that defines a tax, deduction, or benefit.  Benefits Category / BCat - A rule that defines which BDCA codes are eligible for an EClass. BANNER HR TERMINOLOGY

 Leave Category / LCat - A rule that defines what leave types can be accrued and used for an EClass as well as the accrual amounts and maximum balances allowed.  Position Class / PClass - Same as the HRS Classification (Class) Code. The Banner PClass is five characters. A leading “J” is added to the front of the current HRS Class Code. BANNER HR TERMINOLOGY

 Job – Generally the same as the HRS assignment – except it doesn’t have an end date. An employee is assigned a job that is identified by Position Number and Suffix.  Position – Six character string that identifies a particular position. Can be single or pooled. HRS positions will be ported to Banner HR.  Suffix – A two character code that, along with the position number, specifies a particular employee job. In HRS, an assignment is identified by Job Code plus Occurrence Number, such as A610. In Banner, a job is identified by position/suffix, such as Additional suffixes may be used to designate certain distributions.

 Job Type – Primary, Secondary or Overload. An employee can have only one and must have one Primary job active at a time. Generally, this will be the job that determines Benefits Eligibility. A secondary job is any additional job that is also included in benefits calculations. An Overload job is any other job that isn’t Primary or Secondary.  Effective Date – The date a new action, such as a rate change, and FTE change, title change, separation, etc., becomes effective. Separation/termination actions are effective the last day a job or benefit was active. BANNER HR TERMINOLOGY

Employee is hired to start September 1, 2015, as a regular employee in position for $1,000 per month. After three months the employee receives a $20 per month increase. On June 30, 2016, the employee separates.  Base Job is created with a begin date of 9/1/2015  Job Detail record created with effective date 9/1/2015 and pay rate $1,000 – status active.  Job Detail record created with effective date 12/1/2015 and pay rate $1,020 – status active.  Job Detail record created with effective date 6/30/ status Terminated. BANNER HR JOB EXAMPLE

 FOAPALs on a Banner HR position are used:  For posting Budget information to Banner Finance, and  As the default Labor Distribution when a new Base Job is created.  FOAPALs on a Banner HR position are NOT:  Effective dated  Used for Labor Distribution  FOAPALs on the Banner HR Job Labor Distribution tab ARE:  Effective dated  Used for Labor Distribution FOAPALS IN BANNER HR

 Base Banner HR position funding and job labor distribution:  Finance Chart is part of the base record setup  No provision to fund or distribute across multiple charts – chart is not associated with the FOAPAL.  Banner HR Customization  All Banner HR FOAPALs associated with Chart ‘X’  Chart ‘X’ only exists for use in Banner HR  Actual Finance Chart entered into the Location field of the FOAPAL in Banner HR  In the transaction interface between Banner HR and Finance, the Chart ‘X’ will be replaced with the Finance Chart from the Location field of the FOAPAL. CHART ‘X’
