Supporting community action on AIDS in developing countries Mobilising Communities: the Alliance Model Satellite: community mobilisation as a critical enabler for better investment in HIV programming Christine Stegling

Supporting community action on AIDS in developing countries

Why invest? Because community mobilisation works! We need to provide the evidence Describe the inter-linkages of different activities and community structures Investment Framework is based on increase in ART provision – civil society needs to articulate and cost our role in uptake and adherence to ART

Supporting community action on AIDS in developing countries

Community mobilisation for HIV has benefits, outcomes and impact well beyond relatively limited HIV-specific objectives. Are governments appreciating community mobilisation in its diverse forms? Communities are complex: we need to appreciate and articulate the many communities within communities and the need for differentiated approaches.

Supporting community action on AIDS in developing countries Future directions Ensure the investment framework is on the national agenda Provide the evidence that community mobilisation works Advocate for a more high impact, precisely targeted and costed national HIV programme
