3 Expectations Day 2 (2 hour session) Recap of Day 1 The use of the Internet as an information and a research tool The evaluation of information sources Referencing techniques Copyright and plagiarism Library catalogue (UPExplore)

4 Service agreement : Access to the Library Each trainee will be allocated an access card which will enable the holder to gain access to the University and the Library during library hours. ( This card will be valid for one calendar year. Borrowing privileges – this card will enable each trainee to borrow four books for two weeks. Printing and photocopying privileges. Money deposited on this card will enable the holder to copy at the current student tariffs. This currently per A4 for photocopying 35c per page for printing. General Internet access – The card allows general internet R9.00 per 30 min. The use of library resources on the internet is free of charge. f-campus access to electronic resources is not included. Full list of diplomatic trainees and staff expected to use the Library facilities to be submitted for registration as UP-DFA users. Only stipulated services will be provided. Any service beyond those stipulated will be for the trainee’s own cost. Any costs for lost or damaged library material which cannot be recovered from a trainee, will be the responsibility of the FSI.

5 Access to Library Facilities and Resources As a registered user, each client will have on-site access only to the: Computers, group study facilities and wireless connectivity. Library catalogue; print and electronic serials via reference and full text electronic databases (downloading of articles included); websites available to students; Google Scholar (SFX). OR Tambo Law Library, which is a closed reference collection, as well as its databases via the CD menu. Qualified and experienced Information Specialists who will facilitate training in the identified fields of study.
