 It starts off in Queens, NY, then it continues to Palm Beach, FL, and lastly it ends in Queens again. This all happens during the fall in 1947, after the war. When Evie’s family vacations to Palm Beach it adds a new beginning where Evie can re-invent herself. If it wasn’t in Palm Beach during the fall it wouldn’t be shocking to see Peter there since it’s crowded in the winter. It’s also important because if the reader uses their schema about Florida they’ll know how bad the storm was and how Evie might’ve felt.

 The conflict is Man vs. Man. The conflict is Evie has been lied to, a lot, by her parents. Now that she knows she must search the ends of the world for the truth and nothing but the truth.

 Evie goes to Palm Beach with her family. They stay at a hotel where they meet the Graysons and Peter. Evie falls for Peter but Joe doesn’t like it because he knows him, they were at the same base at war. One evening, after dinner, the Graysons get kicked out of the hotel for being Jews. Bev, Joe, and Peter go on a boat ride but get stuck in a hurricane, meanwhile Evie has to evacuate the hotel. They find Bev and Joe swimming but they find Peter’s body. Bev and Joe are accused of murder so they go to trial and Evie testifies on their behalf. They get found not guilty and return back to Queens.

But I did, and she knew it, so maybe she was shaking her head at the whole awful stink to it.” pg.266

 The point of view is first person, the story is narrated through Evie’s point of view. If it was a different point of view the story wouldn’t unravel like it did.

 The symbolism in my book is a tube of lipstick, Revlon’s Fatal Apple Lipstick- the most tempting color since Eve winked at Adam. It symbolizes Evie’s need to grow-up. She didn’t realize it until Mrs. Grayson talked to her. She realized that she was being treated like a child.

 This book is awesome. If you like romance, mystery, lying, and betrayal this is the book for you. In this book Evie is lied to over and over again so she must find out if Peter’s love for her is pure and sincere. She must also find out who killed him and why. Was it Joe or Beverly or both? Or was it just an accident?
