Commitment Purpose To strategically plan roll out of the CSIP goal(s) and plan for the school year? How do we build ownership of the school goal(s)? To plan for monitoring implementation and providing support. What will our school look like when this plan is implemented with fidelity? The ultimate goal is to have improvement strategies take hold and become so internalized that they become part of the school culture.

To ground us 1. Read article-- School Improvement, Step by Step 2. Be prepared to discuss or react to the following in your teams: …they needed to get serious about monitoring how well teachers carried out initiatives the school adopted. (p. 1) How does the process of progress monitoring CSIP parallel the process of progress monitoring students? What is the role of the leadership team in the school improvement process? How can you create the right conditions for the leadership team and staff to grow in their capacity to implement and sustain initiatives of increasing scope? (p. 4)

Review the rough draft of your CSIP Plan 1. As a team, assess your goal(s) for clarity as defined by the ASPIRING Goals Rubric. 2. Are there any changes or revisions necessary? Now is the time to revise plans. 1. Continue designing this year’s roll out plan. (Will it be clear to your colleagues?)

Breaking down a large improvement goal into manageable parts…

Discuss What initiatives are you focusing on this year? How are your focus areas connected to each other and to your goal? How will you help your colleagues realize the connections? PLCs PBIS RtI CSIP State Accountability Common Core State Standards Late Starts Standards Based Reporting Danielson’s Framework Technology ???????

As you plan your roll out… Are there opportunities for monitoring implementation?  To what extent are structures in place to collect and review formative implementation data?  Is it working?

One Voice – One Plan changeimprovement effective classroom practices. However noble, sophisticated, or enlightened proposals for change and improvement might be, they come to nothing if teachers don’t adopt them in their own classrooms and if they don’t translate them into effective classroom practices.

Data comparing what happens to student achievement when adult implementation is not monitored. -Doug Reeves 2010

It is also critical that the School Improvement Team structure opportunities to celebrate successes, no matter how small. Celebrating successes reinforces valued performance and reminds the school community that however challenging, school improvement results in improved academic performance.

Before you leave: a copy of your plan thus far to Chris Webster Deadline Monday, August 12. ACI/Special Education Coordinators will review plans and give feedback (Let us know what support you may want this year!) Individually complete survey of Leadership Team staff development needs
