2007 CT State Employees’ Campaign for Charitable Giving

Who is the CSEC? The Connecticut State Employees’ Campaign is State employees who work in Connecticut YOU

What is the CSEC? CSEC is the name of the charitable giving program authorized for payroll deduction for state employees. ONLY

The campaign is your once a year opportunity to contribute to non-profit local, national, & international charities. Even $1 per pay period helps people in CT & throughout the world. Why should I give?

Payroll Deduction is the easiest, most effective way to contribute to your community. Why should I give? Your one-time donation can also make a difference.

Where does my gift go? EXACTLY to the charity you designate. You can designate to as many charities listed in the Directory as you wish.

Reach out to those in need; Sustain local, national, & international health, educational, environmental, & social service organizations; Make a meaningful contribution to our community. Why have others given? This campaign provides a direct way to:

James M. “Skip” Thomas Commissioner of the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), serves as the Chair of the 2007 Connecticut State Employees’ Campaign. Who is the 2007 Campaign Chair?

How long is the Campaign? The Campaign continues until Friday, November 30. However, contributions are always accepted throughout the year.

Some reasons to give… You never know where your kindness will lead. Payroll deduction is the time release formula for philanthropic action. You become a member of a community team. The CSEC has been created for State Employees and overseen by State Employees.

I’m only one person. What can I do? We about 70,000 State Employees. Together we show that we care beyond the work environment. You don’t have to give up a lot to be part of the great team. You can demonstrate your level of commitment. For the price of a cup of coffee a week, be a part of a team that contributes to the greater good.

I can’t give a lot, would it really help? You show leadership & enthusiasm by a 1- time gift or by bi-weekly payroll deductions. It is a convenient option to participate year-round. It is easy & helps with taxes. Pooling our efforts accomplishes positive change and growth. Participation demonstrates commitment to our community beyond our work environment. Wouldn’t you be willing give up a cup of coffee to help someone else?

Per week helps distribute 100 missing children posters [= cost of the paper for one day] Per week provides a scholarship for one inner city child to attend a summer camp [= cost of a cup of coffee] $1 $2 How do charities use your money?

Per week provides 150 measles immunizations [= cost of gas to drop the kids at the Mall] Per week provides 346 cancer patients with treatment services & information [=cost of payday lunch with your co workers] How do charities use your money? $3 $5

Your generous contributions supported such charities as: Connecticut Legal Services Easter Seals Connecticut MADRE, Inc. Mental Health Association of CT Nutmeg Big Brothers/Big Sisters Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation Riverfront Children’s Center Where do the gifts go?

Your donations work in the community.

Your contributions help others … Adoption, Education, Elder Care, Health, and more.

Your donations help those in need.

Your gifts help the environment.

Your generosity helps animals.

Where we’ve been ~ Where we’re going Last year, our grand total was $ 1,860,050. This year, we’d like to arrive at $1.9 million, and with your help, we can get there.

For the 2006 Campaign, the Retirees from State service generously donated more than Congratulations to our State Retirees! $37,145

With a convenient, once a year decision, you are able to: Use automatic payroll deduction Demonstrate your concern Set a good example Make a difference Help others One more time, tell me why I should give?

Soon, you will receive a pledge card and the 2007 Campaign Directory of organizations to which you may donate. Please review it and decide how you might best help.

Thanks for watching…and it only took a few minutes. Want to learn more? Go to Campaign Help Lines: Hartford: Norwich:
