What’s Working for the Diversity Committee? Concept is a positive initiative for the District Willing & influential partners at the table Wide cross-section of agencies, organizations, businesses and communities represented Significant resource gathering already completed

What Are our Difficulties? We are struggling for a clear purpose & reason to exist, which could cost us partners Mission Statement is an excellent starting point, but needs to be follow up with development of organizational strategy Acting as a resource is only part of solution

What We Propose

The Role of the Diversity Committee Acting as a source of vision & direction for anti- discrimination/pro-diversity action and initiatives in the Rainy River District Provide leadership and support for governments, businesses, organizations and individuals in developing/sustaining a comprehensive diversity strategy Act as a bidirectional communications conduit for all partners

Municipal & Band Council Engagement Strategy Diversity Committee

Municipal/Band Council Engagement Seek letters affirming declaration of partnership from all RRD municipalities & FN communities Spearhead a District initiative to join the UNESCO Coalition of Municipalities Against Racism & Discrimination Facilitate cultural diversity training for all partner municipality/FN employees

Municipal & Band Council Engagement Strategy Business & Organization Engagement Strategy Diversity Committee

Business & Organization Engagement Seek declaration of partnership from local governmental/education organizations & NGOs Utilize the “Respect” campaign materials, tailored specifically for businesses & organizations Facilitate cultural diversity training for business employees
