Discussion Guide: 1.How did David describe the rule of God? (Psalm 9:7-8) David said that God reigns forever. God is a righteous judge. He governs with justice.

Discussion Guide: 2.What does justice mean? Some have said, “How can a good God condemn someone to Hell?” How does this verse relate to the statement?

Discussion Guide: 3.What does God do for the oppressed and those in trouble? (Psalm 9:9) The Lord is a refuge and stronghold for those in trouble.

Discussion Guide: 4.What does David say about the character of God? (Psalm 9:10) David says that God will not forsake those who seek him.

Discussion Guide: 5.What did David ask God to do for us? (Psalm 67:1) David asks God to be gracious to us and bless us. He asks God to make his face to shine on us.

Discussion Guide: 6.What will be the result of God’s blessing? (Psalm 67:2) The result will be that God’s ways will be known on earth and that all nations will know his salvation.

Discussion Guide: 7.If God blesses us how will other people find out about it? What is our responsibility in making God’s salvation known?

Discussion Guide: 8.How is Moses’ snake like Jesus being lifted up? (John 3:14-15) When people were dying of snakebite, Moses made a bronze snake and put it on a pole. Anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and live. Jesus is saying “I am like Moses’ bronze snake; look to me and live.”

Discussion Guide: 9.What is the purpose of Jesus’ death? (John 3:16-17) Jesus died so that everyone in the world might have the opportunity to have eternal life.

Discussion Guide: 10.Assume for a moment that you had been bitten by a deadly snake but had been miraculously healed. If you knew someone who was bitten by the same kind of snake and was about to die, what would you do?

Discussion Guide: 11.What is necessary to avoid condemnation? (John 3:18) One must believe in Jesus to avoid condemnation.

Discussion Guide: 12.Who was Cornelius? (Acts 10:1-2) Cornelius was a centurion in the Italian Regiment. He was a devout and God-fearing man who gave generously to those in need.

Discussion Guide: 13.Describe Cornelius’ vision. (Acts 10:3-4) About three o’clock one afternoon Cornelius had a vision of an angel. The angel commended Cornelius for his lifestyle.

Discussion Guide: 14.Do you know some God- fearing people who do not have a relationship with Christ? What might you do to help?

Discussion Guide: 15.What did Peter say to Cornelius and his family? (Acts 10:28-29) Peter indicated that it was against Jewish law for him to associate with a Gentile, but that God had showed him that he should not shun any man. Peter told them that he had come without any objection.

Discussion Guide: 16.How was God at work in the life of Cornelius and Peter? How do you think Peter felt as he approached the home of Cornelius?

Discussion Guide: 17.What happened at Cornelius’ home? (Acts 10:42-48) Peter told Cornelius and his family the good news about Jesus. As Peter preached, Cornelius and members of his family believed and began speaking in tongues. Peter baptized Cornelius and his family.

Discussion Guide: 18.What does this event tell us about what we should do when we are prompted to share the good news about Jesus with someone else? What kind of relationship with God do we need to have in order to hear him when he speaks to us? What should we do to cultivate that relationship?

Discussion Guide: 19.What are the wages of sin? What is the gift of God? (Romans 6:23) Sin’s wages is death. God’s gift is eternal life.
