Sample Slide Christingle Service and Christingle Orange The very first Christingle (Czech Republic) Oh Little Town of Bethlehem Shine Jesus Shine Sample Slide Teacher Links (for use with children)

Each child is given a Christingle, a decorated orange, and each part of the Christingle orange has a special meaning. The lights in the church are turned off and the children enter to stand along the aisle of the church and sing Away In A Manger. The light from their candles reminds us that Christians believe Jesus is the light of the world. Sample Slide

Some Czech people think this is how the first Christingle might have been made ………. Many years ago, children were asked to take a gift to put beside the crib in church. One family was very poor and had no money to spare to buy gifts but they found an orange. They thought that perhaps the orange could be their gift but it was going mouldy on top! Sample Slide
