Year 6 Learning Hub Sage- Sorrel- Cubby Hole- Sunshine Room- Cyber space  The learning hub has been a key aspect of Year 6 at Trinity School for several years now in order to ease transition in to secondary school.  It has been an incredibly successful model and has improved standards in Year 6.  “My child has progressed and grown in this last year and we are so pleased with how well the Year 6 hub worked together – thank you.”

Verbal Notes for Slide 3: All children will be taught by each member of the Year 6 Team (rotational basis). Want to reiterate that they are not taught as one large group of 48. Groups 1:12 ratio with adult every lesson that change regularly – allows a personalised learning programme. Great transition for secondary school – used to moving locations, responsible for own learning/resources, working with different adults.

Day to day  Reading – independent/guided/shared  Writing – independent/guided  Maths – times tables/4 operations/KIRFs/4 operations  Morning activities – spelling/tables/writing  Topic – Evolution: what will we become?  The rest of the curriculum (RE, ICT & Art) – PPA team: Mrs Heber, Mrs Collins and Miss Woodward.

Verbal Notes for Slide 5: Guided reading (once per week, carousel including the actual reading session with a teacher, written comprehension, spelling and writing challenges). Children read with an adult once per week. It is important to still share books/read with your child. Writing – guided writing in groups with an adult working on specific targets. Maths – each child gets personalised learning in their groups. We are focusing on basics/place value/4 operations until Christmas. At home, times tables are very important. Morning activities – extra time to work on key areas that need improvement, school on time so as not to miss out on this learning opportunity. PPA team – Mrs Heber = RE Miss Woodward = ICT Mrs Collins = Art New Curriculum 2014, new topics- raised standards.
