Arthrosis Made by: Jorge Marín and Fernando Martín.

What is Arthrosis?  This illness is also called degenerative arthritis or degenerative joint disease or Osteoarthritis.  It is the degeneration or breaking down of the cartilage in a joint.  It can be classified into either primary or secondary depending on whether or not there is an identifiable underlying cause.

What are the main causes?  Mechanical stress on joints, overweight; loss of strength in muscles supporting joints; and impairment of peripheral nerves, leading to sudden or uncoordinated movements that overstress joints.  Acording with the causes we can difference two types of arthritis:  Primary osteoarthritis is a chronic degenerative disorder related to, but not caused by aging. As a person ages some cartilages became smaller and they start to break down.  Secondary osteoarthritis is caused by other factors like diabetes, inflamatory disease, obesity,…..

Symptoms  The main symptom is pain, causing loss of ability and often stiffness. Pain is generally described as a sharp ache, or a burning sensation in the associate muscles and tendons. Humidity and cold weather increases the pain in many patients.  It also can cause a crackling noise when the joint is moved and patients may experience muscle spasms and contractions in the tendons.  Sometimes in joints, like the fingers, can be enlarged, but it is not always painful. Some people notice these physical changes before they experience any pain.

Treatment  There was no possible cure.  Recently improved orthopaedic treatment can cure it.  Analgesics and inflammatorys to prevent pain.  Stick for the knee and hip arthrosis

Treatment  Doing exercise  Eating a healthy diet  Avoid smoking

Incidence  50% of the people above 65 years have it,and 90% when there are 70 or above  Young people can also have it

 Katherine hepburn  Roosevelt  Jefferson  Ferdinand Marcos
