God Doesn’t Want Me To Be At Peace
Christians live a dual life We are part warriors, part peacemakers Jesus brings peace. Satan brings war.
Matthew 10:34 -- Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
Luke 12: I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! 51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
Ephesians 6: Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
John 14:27 -- Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
…and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
