3D images can be viewed with special tecnical methods, such as: special glasses, or stereoscopic viewfinder. 3D image is a new imaging technique, how can be protect? How to view 3D images? 3D images per se are not mentioned as object of industrial property and are not included in the Locarno Classification.

How could be protected 3D images based on Design Law in accordance with current tehnique of national offices? Submitted in the application the minimum 6 views of the design object sought to be protected and to their publication, necessarily accompanied by a description. However they are subject of the protection under copyright law.

How would be registered and published 3D images? Provisions into national law aimed the regular deposit Presentation of the object of application – filing requirements for graphic representations A mandatory description Technical problems related to filing of graphic representations and publishing of application

Classification issues How the classification could be achieved? In the current edition of the Locarno Classification Create a specific class/subclass

Hologram Design F – admitted design for registration for Hologram graphics. In the description it is mentioned that the succession of 4 views create the 3D images impression.

Registered designs made by various tehniques (shadows, colors) – suggest 3D images

Conclusions So far, our office has not received requests for registration of such 3 D images. We believe that under current technique used in our office for filing and publication of 3D Images can be done as we suggested before. Submission of any electronic files containing images would be difficult to stored on servers of national offices due to the size of such files.
