WELCOME TO CHERAW INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL Principal – Mr. Scott Eddins Assistant Principal – Mrs. Angela Demby Guidance Counselor – Mrs. Layvonne Byrd
I believe… when children enjoy school, they learn more. So the goal is to create a safe environment in which students can learn and have fun!
Safety Safety is our first priority. We conduct safety drills each month and teach the students how to be safe.
Expectations for Academics We believe “READING IS ESSENTIAL!” Therefore, we expect our students to do lots of reading – up to 45 minutes a day at school and another 20 to 25 minutes at home. Over 14,000 books in the library, plus more books in the classrooms Reading Competitions – Battle of the Books Reading Celebrations – Read In Reading Challenge Questions (Book Bucks)
Math, Science, and Social Studies are emphasized, too! Math instruction is augmented with computer-based programs like “Extra Math”, “Reflex”, and “Moby Max”. Science will be research, projects, and experiments. Social Studies will be integrated with ELA.
