Sloan Creek Intermediate 6 th Grade Come to the Creek Parent Presentation 2015 – 2016 School Year

Our Vision Growing and learning together, we become leaders. TACKLE the CHALLENGE!

What will stay the same? Our philosophy – continue our journey on the “bridge” Continue with leadership development and the seven habits Habit 1: Be proactive. You’re in charge. Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind. Have a plan. Habit 3: Put first things first. Work first, then play. Habit 4: Think win-win. Everyone can win. Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then to be understood. Listen before you talk. Habit 6: Synergize. Together is better. Habit 7: Sharpen the saw. Balance is best. 9 period day Events and support – With a new twist!

What is different for our 6 th graders?

PRE – AP FOR ALL The state of Texas designates three levels of instruction for the core academic areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies: Traditional Pre-AP (Preparation for Advanced Placement) – Challenging coursework that engages students on a high level in preparation for high school AP courses. AP (Advanced Placement) – Advanced high school coursework taught on a college level. Students who pass AP exams can earn college credit.

PRE-AP FOR ALL Lovejoy believes that every student should have the opportunity to achieve his/her highest potential. To that end, all regular core academic 6 th grade and middle-school courses are taught at the Pre-AP level. Not all students will choose to continue into the high school AP program, but all students are given the opportunity to prepare for this option.
