Explanation A technological platform to encourage learning through creating, practicing, exploring, and interacting.

Resource Sites  TCEA –A website that provides explanation of apps for teachers and students for both the iPad and iPod organized by subject and grade level. iPad iPodiPad iPod  Educational Technology and Mobile Learning –A list for teachers of best apps organized by subject. apps  National Center for Learning Disabilities –Information for using apps with students who have learning disabilities. apps

Resource Sites  Teach Thought –A fantastic website for tips, tricks, and trends for using apps in the classroom. website  The Next Web –The cutting edge of what is to come in app development, including education. education

Example Apps  iTooch –K-8 exercises in math and language arts. –Keeps students on task while covering a wide range of concepts. a wide range of concepts.  Educreations –Allows teachers to record lessons so that students can utilize them synchronously and asynchronously. –Great for sending lessons home, creating a lesson plan for a sub, and evaluating lessons.

Example Apps  Simple Mind –An app for all ages used for brainstorming, mapping, and prewriting. –Allows sharing of ideas and assists students in transitioning from prewriting to the first draft.  Star Walk –Inexpensive bonus app! –Educational app that identifies galaxies and constellations in the night sky.

Application There are apps for every subject area, grade level, and learning style that can enhance the classroom experience when used appropriately.
