INTRODUCTION (Characteristics of Korean) Name of the language: Korean: International name following the country name using this language; they are Republic of Korea (south) and People’s Republic of Korea (north) Hangugeo ( 한국어 ): After the name, Hangug ( 한국 ), by which ROK people calls their own country. ‘Eo ( 어 )’ means language. Often called simply Gugeo ( 국어 ). Joseonmal ( 조선말 ): Following the name Joseon ( 조선 ), by which PRK people calls theit own country.
