Definition  It is an infection and inflammation of the fluid and membranes protecting the brain and spinal

Symptom  Sudden high fever  Stiff neck  Seizures  Sensitivity to light  Severe headaches

Causes  Usually caused by a viral infection, but could also be a bacterial infection, or a fungal infection(bacterial infection is the most serious)

Risk factors  Skipping vaccination  Younger age (under 20)  Pregnancy

Complications  Hearing loss  Memory difficulty  Learning disabilities  Brain damage  Seizures  Kidney failure  DEATH
