Let’s Talk Perkins A Little
Perkins “Reserve” States are allowed to “Reserve” up to 10% of the Perkins basic program allocation for specialized projects Districts eligible to receive reserve funds must meet the following criteria: Rural areas; Areas with high percentages of CTE students; and Areas with high numbers of CTE students
How does a district get “Reserve” funding for a special project? I received notification of a special project utilizing the “Reserve” fund “Reserve” funds are added to the district’s basic Perkins allocation Teachers/TOSAs/contractors must communicate with the district CTE director to assure that the district’s special project is allocated appropriately within the iGrants budget tab This is done by creating a budget revision to the district’s 1000B form in iGrants
Timeline State Funding Cycle July 1 - June 30 th All obligations must be fulfilled by the end of the grant period Federal Funding Cycle July 1 – August 31 st Obligations may be charged to grant funds even though goods and equipment are not received during the grant award period Carryover?
OUR APPLICATION WAS APPROVED – WE’RE GETTING THE MONEY – “LIFE IS GOOD” & I AM DONE! Review it at least at the 6 and 9 month points. Follow it, or AMEND IT 28
