Let’s Talk Perkins A Little

Perkins “Reserve”  States are allowed to “Reserve” up to 10% of the Perkins basic program allocation for specialized projects  Districts eligible to receive reserve funds must meet the following criteria:  Rural areas;  Areas with high percentages of CTE students; and  Areas with high numbers of CTE students

How does a district get “Reserve” funding for a special project? Contact the individual program supervisors within the State CTE program office Betty Klattenhoff, Director Career and Technical Education Denny Wallace, Program Supervisor Skills and Technical Sciences Marianna Goheen, Program Supervisor Health Sciences us Rebecca Wallace, Program Supervisor Agriculture Education Mary Kanikeberg, Program Supervisor Jobs for Washington’s Graduates Mary Nagel, Program Supervisor Family and Consumer Sciences Clarence Dancer, Program Supervisor STEM Lance Wrzesinski, Program Supervisor Business and Marketing

I received notification of a special project utilizing the “Reserve” fund  “Reserve” funds are added to the district’s basic Perkins allocation  Teachers/TOSAs/contractors must communicate with the district CTE director to assure that the district’s special project is allocated appropriately within the iGrants budget tab  This is done by creating a budget revision to the district’s 1000B form in iGrants

Timeline  State Funding Cycle  July 1 - June 30 th  All obligations must be fulfilled by the end of the grant period  Federal Funding Cycle  July 1 – August 31 st  Obligations may be charged to grant funds even though goods and equipment are not received during the grant award period Carryover?

OUR APPLICATION WAS APPROVED – WE’RE GETTING THE MONEY – “LIFE IS GOOD” & I AM DONE! Review it at least at the 6 and 9 month points. Follow it, or AMEND IT 28
