At the current rate of progress, Sub-Saharan Africa will miss the Millennium Development Goals of halving by 2015 the proportion of people without access to safe water & sanitation by an entire generation for Water and by more than two generations for Sanitation.

Water, sanitation and other MDGS Poverty : W&S brings health, productive time, economic opportunities and direct savings to the poorest Hunger : W&S improves nutrient uptake and allows for increased agricultural output Primary Education : W&S in schools greatly improves school attendance, especially for adolescent girls Gender Equality : W&S helps empower women

W&S and other MDGs (2) Child Mortality : W&S greatly reduces diarrhea – the single biggest killer of children in the developing world Maternal Mortality : W&S during pregnancy and at maternal facility diminish maternal mortality Major Diseases : W&S is the foundation of health and therefore a perequisite for addressing major diseases Environmental Sustainability : Water is the natural recipient of most pollutions
