READING: COUNTDOWN!  Check In!  Add your journal to the class bin  Have your ARTIFACT BAG at your seat.  Have something to write with!  If you have a question, put it on the “PARKING LOT.”

LANGUAGE ARTS: COUNTDOWN!  Check In  Have a seat with a pencil and something to read  Take out the letter you started yesterday  Add your journal to the class bin  If you have a question, put it on the “PARKING LOT.”

THREE FACTS AND A FIB!  On the sheet you are given, you will write 4 statements.  You come up with three facts about yourself.  They can be silly, but they shouldn’t be something I can figure out by looking at you. (Don’t say you have blonde hair…duh!)  The tricky part is that you get to make up one more thing that is not true!  You should have 4 statements when you’re ready to share. Three facts and one fib!

3 FACTS AND A FIB – MS. MOURDOCK 1. My brother was TI’s bodyguard. 2. I love eating sushi, but hate eating cooked fish. 3. My all time favorite book is The Hunger Games. 4. If you added up all the games I’ve been to, I’ve spent over a week of my life at Turner Field

THREE FACTS AND A FIB! CONT… 1. Once we all have our facts and our fibs written out, we will walk around the room and try to catch the fibs! 2. Here’s how it will work… 3. Walk up to a classmate and introduce yourself with a handshake. 4. Read your statements. 5. The person you’re introducing yourself to will then guess which one is the fib. 6. IF they pick the wrong one, you “win” their initials.  Have them initial YOUR sheet admitting that you tricked them. 7. The person with the most initials wins the game.

3 FACTS AND A FIB Ms. Mourdock 1. My brother was TI’s bodyguard. 2. I love eating sushi, but hate eating cooked fish. 3. My all time favorite book is The Hunger Games. 4. If you added up all the games I’ve been to, I’ve spent over a week of my life at Turner Field Initials of People I tricked…  _____________________

Station #1 Welcome to Ms. Mourdock’s Room! There are some days that we may meet in other parts of the building or need special supplies. You can always check for this information by looking at the signs by the door. Come into the room and immediately look at the projector screen. Ms. Mourdock will have a COUNTDOWN waiting for you with important directions for you to complete. As soon as you walk in, to your left is a green supply cabinet where nameless papers end up. Always check there if you’re missing a grade you know that you turned in.

Station #2 Checking In Everyday when you arrive, you’ll need to check in. – You will move your clothespin to the green rectangle. – This tells me that you’re here and ready to learn! – Be sure to only move yours! You also will want to move your pin if you need to leave the room. – Move your clothespin and clip it to the poster in the spot you need to visit. – Then write a PASS in your agenda for me to stamp.

Station #3: The Classroom Library These shelves are filled with books that I loved as a middle school student, and some that I still love as an adult. I want you to borrow them and love them, too! You need to check them out if you want to take a book out of the classroom. There is a bright colored sheet of paper waiting to be filled in. When you’re finished, put it back in the bucket and Ms. Mourdock will check your name off the list! Have a seat in one of the nearby chairs or on the floor and take a look at some of the books. – BTW: You can only sit in the comfy chair if you’re reading!

Station #4: The Side Board This board is full of useful information for everyday. The left side shows the overview of the class plans for the week. The right shows your daily agenda and HW for both reading and LA. – You should always copy your HW in your agenda! The bulletin boards show what journals and activities we’ve done in both reading and LA

Station #5: Advice From My Former Students I know a new school and teachers can be intimidating. Don’t let it. Read TWO notes from previous students about how to best succeed in 6C2 this year.

Station #6: Expectations This is more of a talking station. Work together to come up with what it looks like to meet Ms. Mourdock’s expectations and write a summary of your discussion on your sheet and fill in the charts about your class ideals.
