Rationale The last Governance Review (CORP) took place between 1993 and Best practice requires some form of review every three to five years. Many of CORP’s recommendations are still in place, but the needs of the Society and its members have changed since the 1990s.

Governance Review Committee Student Members –President of the Alma Mater Society –One additional member of the Executive Committee, as designated by the executive Committee –Two Councillors appointed by Council, including one member of the Legislative Procedures Committee –Two Students-at-Large, appointed by Council –The Executive Special Projects Assistant, Governance, who shall be non-voting AMS Staff Members –The Archivist and Clerk of Council, who shall be non-voting –The General Manager, who shall be non-voting –The Executive Director, who shall be non-voting

Internal Survey Purpose: –to receive feedback on the Society’s business operations from employees of the Society; –to receive feedback from employees of the Society regarding working conditions and overall working experience with the Society; and –to receive recommendations from employees of the Society on how the Society’s business operations can be improved.

External Consultant Will complete a comprehensive review of the Society’s activities. Will provide an objective point of view and a fresh look at the current state of the Society. Will be able to make recommendations on how the Society can improve its operations.

Public Consultation General Survey Consultation Days: –AMS Constituencies; –AMS Services; –AMS Council and Committee; and –Public.

Outcomes and Implementation Final report to include: –Results of the Internal Review, the External Review, and the Public Consultation. Goal is to create the strategies, send to Council, and have future Councils implement at their discretion; and to be approved by the currently elected Council and handed to the next (2016/2017) Executive Committee.
