Meeting Objectives Expand and deepen the group of Nigerian leaders committed to economic and revenue diversification Review and refine the Forum’s call to action, based on additional research and analysis Review and refine the Forum’s strategies for influence and messaging, leveraging elections and other opportunities to spark leadership and public conversation Build the Forum’s institutional capacity by developing its membership and funding Develop a work plan for the coming months and confirm next steps

Formulate messages that target different audiences to articulate the Forum’s vision and calls to action. Identify and collaborate with relevant organisations that can serve as platforms to disseminate/propagate the messages of the Forum. Develop and implement effective media (including social media) engagement strategies.
Message: Update since May Actions since May meeting: The need for the Forum to consider a Recognition program (merit award) for those who are trying to do right by their citizens as part of projecting the FORUM message to the general public. This was described as a Program similar to “Man of the Year”, American Idols, could be like Nobel Peace prize, based on the idea of using your talent on behalf of the greater good of all. A draft vision statement was developed; “To Strengthen the social contract between government and citizens of Nigeria Circulated draft vision statement to Forum members for their feedback. Mrs. Balogun shared the Lagos State campaign CDs for the Forum. She has also spoken with the Lagos State Chairman on Internal Revenue to invite him to present to the Forum what can be termed the Lagos State Success Story on Revenue Generation.
Message: Committee Presentation and Discussion What is the set of messages that we want to communicate to the public about the Forum, our call to action, and how the public can help advance the Forum’s goals? “To Strengthen the social contract between government and citizens of Nigeria To motivate Nigerian people to be responsible citizens and hold the government accountable for their own actions”. To encourage Government/public participation in private- sector-led diversification To draw the attention of citizens and other stakeholders to the danger of increasing reduction of oil revenue To encourage voluntary tax compliance through responsible governance
