Mother Tongue Read Aloud sessions Primary student will read in the mother tongue language to a Lower Primary class, often an older student will read to a younger sibling. I read the same story in English, taking turns page by page with the mother tongue reader. The class will experience the story in two languages. 10

Rewards of Mother Tongue Learning Proficiency in an additional language Promotes the student’s cultural and personal identity Prevents cultural gaps within the family Recognises previous learning 11
