- Christmas is an old holiday wich roots are in the Romans holiday – Saturnalia. - Saturnalia was a holiday dedicated to Saturn God and people had organized carnivals,visits to friends and exchange of presents.The houses had been decorated with wreaths of fir-tree and laurel in wich they set fire to candles.

-Nowadays, for us,the Romanians,Christmas is a holiday when we celebrate the Jesus born. Christmas doesn’t last only free days,it has free periods. -Preparation periode – form the 15 th of november steal the 23 th of december wich includes fast houses and tombs cleaning. -The second stage between the 24 th – 31 st of december,Chtismas celebration.

-The third stage – between New Years Eve (called in ancient times The Little Christmas) and Epiphany. -Christmas holiday is marked buy Chrismtas carols,treditional meals and games with masks. -The waits are well received to ever house and they get apples, nuts, sweets and cracknels.

- Romanian traditional Christmas meal includs:”sarmale”(meat in cabbage),”cozonaci”(pluni cake),fruits,fish,and drinks. The games with maskes are playd to drive away the bad spirits. -Our Chrismtas traditionals ara well – keeped in the country and this holiday has also it’s superstitions.

- Here are a few: a) No Chrstmas without mistbrtoe –symbol of love,peace and good luck. b) The candles lighted on Christmas Night should be left to put out thenselves. c) If you eat apples the day before Christmas, you will be healthy all Year.

- The happiest are the children, because they decorate the Chrismtas tree with a lot of ornaments and then, Santa Claus can put the presents under it.
