The Soundness Of God’s People Jer. 8:18-22

Many Deceived By False Standards  Reputation. Rev. 3:2  Numbers. Cf. Deut. 7:7; Mt. 7:13- 14; Judg.7:4  Physical facilities. Acts 17:24  Prominent people. Cf. 1 Cor. 1:26  Programs… “At least they’re doing something.”

Soundness Of God’s People:  “Stand fast in the faith.” 1 Cor. 16:13 –“Stand fast…” Gal. 5:1; Phil. 1:27; Rev. 3:16-17; Heb. 3:12ff –“In the faith…” Cf. 1 Cor. 15:1-2; Acts 13:7,8,12

Soundness Of God’s People:  Uphold sound doctrine. 2 Tim. 1:13; Tit. 1:9; 2:1; 2 Jno. 9; cf. 2 Tim. 4:2-4; Isa. 30:10 –When issues come… Cf. Acts 15  We must speak. Acts 4:20  We must contend. Jude 3  We must fight. 1 Tim. 6:12; 2 Cor. 10:3-5

Soundness Of God’s People:  Emphasize the spiritual above the material. Mt. 6:19, 33; Col. 3:1-3; Eccl. 12:13; Phil. 2:20-21 –Avoid respectable worldliness. Lk. 14:16ff –Takes time. Eph. 5:15-16  Study. 2 Tim. 2:15  Prayer. 1 Thess. 5:17  Visit. Jms. 1:27  Teach children. Eph. 6:1ff
