Financial Support Fund Registered students can apply to the Financial Support Fund Financial support contributes towards the additional costs incurred while you study These maybe awarded to cover extra childcare costs whilst you are studying In certain cases the fund may cover exceptional travel costs Students whose DSA does not cover all their additional study costs may receive an award 05/10/2015© The University of Sheffield

You can apply for disabled student’s allowance (DSA) if you are studying more than 30 credits and have a: Disability or long-term health condition Mental health condition Specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia or dyspraxia Your household income is not taken into account and the DSA’s will pay for some additional support your disability requires for you to study at university 05/10/2015© The University of Sheffield Disabled Students Allowance

As a part-time student you can usually still claim benefits which depend on your household income (means-tested benefits), such as income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Housing Benefit and Local Housing Allowance Your fee loan will not be treated as income when assessing any means-tested benefit You are not entitled to a Council Tax exemption, however you may be eligible for Council Tax Reduction 05/10/2015© The University of Sheffield Benefits
