Itchy Contact Lenses Your contact lenses are giving you problems and you suspect that it is due to a bad saline solution that you are using over night. If the concentration of the saline solution is too high, it can dry out your lenses; if the concentration is too low, it will not clean your lenses. Your goal is to determine the concentration of the saline solution. Your typed, formal lab report will be graded on accuracy and precision and is due on Friday, May 15 th.

Formal Lab Report Title (defining) Purpose (defining) – complete sentences Materials (observing) – list Procedure (observing ) – no 1 st person Data (observing) – all quantitative and qualitative Analysis (generalizing) - Calculate the molarity of the saline solution (one final answer to be graded) and identify one source of error along with the specific effects on your molarity.

Formal Lab Report Cont. Conclusions (generalizing) – questions: 1. What is molarity in your own words in complete sentences? For #2 - #4, don’t forget units, sig digs, and work for partial credit. Determine the grams of solute required to make the following aqueous solutions: mL of 5.30 M sodium hydroxide L of 0.45 M copper (II) chloride L of 1.0 M potassium permanganate 5. How many milliliters of a 2.5 M saline solution contain 11.3 g of table salt? 6. What is the concentration of a saline solution if 1.65 g of table salt are dissolved in 22 mL of water?
