Overview Impact Guidelines Timeline SHPE Jr. Chapter Charter Application SHPE Jr. Chapter Report

Impact Through funding received from the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), the SHPE Foundation is extending 50 SHPE university and professional chapters an award to start a SHPE Jr. Chapter in a local high school. Your SHPE chapter will be making an impact on young Hispanic students by introducing them to STEM and setting them up for an exciting STEM education and career. Your chapter will be directly contributing to the success of SHPE’s Strategic Goal 1: Economic & Technological Position.

Guidelines

The award provides $ to support the new SHPE Jr. Chapter in targeted states in Regions 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. This funding can be used for food, activities, or other approved items to facilitate the Jr. Chapter. In order to qualify for funding the target high school cannot already have a SHPE Jr. Chapter in place. The SHPE Foundation will provide the sponsoring university or professional SHPE Chapter with monthly activities for the SHPE Jr. Chapter meetings and additional support as needed.

Additionally, the NAVSEA funding will support a SHPE Jr. Chapter Advisor, who is a teacher at the high school. The SHPE Jr. Chapter Advisor will receive a $300 stipend for serving as an advisor during the first year of implementation of the SHPE Jr. Chapter.
