Talking to a Police Officer: A Traffic Stop
A car is speeding down the street.
The driver hears a police siren and pulls over.
The driver pulls over to the right shoulder of the road.
The police officer checks the license plate of the car, and the driver waits in the car.
The police officer asks the driver if he knows why he was stopped.
“Excuse me sir, do you know why I stopped you?”
“No officer, I’m not sure.” “ You were driving 50 MPH in a 35 MPH zone.”
The police officer asks to see three documents, the driver’s license, car registration and proof of insurance.
“ “Can you please show me your driver’s license, car registration and your proof of insurance.”
The policeman asks the driver to sign the ticket.
“Sign here please. You will receive your court date in two weeks along with information about traffic school and how to pay for your ticket. Have a nice day.”
The notification of the court date arrives in the mail two to four weeks later.
