The data I used was specifically set apart from marijuana possession cases so that we could only look at illicit drugs. Data Used For Community Need

("Ethnic Communities' Vulnerability to Involvement with Illicit Drugs."). Executive Director, Counseling Director, Head Medical Director, Program Coordinators, Nurses, Secretary, Data Input, methadone, computer, medical tools,, medical space with offices and waiting room, Counseling rooms,. Heroin users will participate in South Avenue Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program, a program that serves individuals in a low-income community with heroin addiction problems. They receive professionally administered methadone doses, regular physical check- ups, and counseling at a very low cost. the outputs will be a monthly count of how many Heroin users sign up for and participate in the program The percent of heroine use will be lower for those participating in the program as compared to those not participating. The percent of drug- related arrests/convictions, drug overdoses, and overall drug activity will be lower for those participating in the program as compared to those not participating. The community problem of Drug use will decline from the current amount of 1132 closer to the desired lower level of 800.

Why Does This Matter for Syracuse? Syracuse.com reported, “Drug courts in Syracuse had a significant increase in participants identifying heroin as their drug of choice. Syracuse total went from 61 to 97 last year… The number of overdoses in Onondaga County went one 14 in 2009 to 84 last year. The number of deaths attributed to accidental overdose in Onondaga County went from one in 2010 to 27 last year. wild_in_central_new_york_causes_jumps_in_overdoses_deaths.html

Why does this matter for New Yorkers? PBS.org reported, “About 20 percent of heroin seizures nationwide are collected by DEA agents in New York State but according to the New York Times, this year that number has risen to 35 percent” - seizures-rise-northeast/ In 2012 it was found that heroin accounted for 25.9% of drug related deaths in NYS - pdf

Why Does This Matter For Americans? TIME magazine reported, “ Heroin related deaths nearly tripled in the U.S. within just 3 years. The National Center for Health Statistics shows from 2000 to 2013, heroin deaths increased fourfold, from 0.7 per 100,000 people to 2.7 deaths per 100,000. Heroin related deaths have increased in all age groups, races and ethnic groups, and every region.” -

Data Analysis You can see that the percentage of people who used heroine again is higher amongst people who were NOT in the program. The higher percentage at 56.2% were people in the group. The numbers are not statistically significant, which we can see in the Chi-Square test. With the “Asymp. Sigma” number at.440, being much higher than.05

Data Analysis We can see from the logistic regression that the data we have is also not statistically significant. Being a high school graduate and race seemed insignificant. This means that with the data provided it does not seem that the program would be effective because it did not have the intended outcome of lower heroin use among program participants.
