What is LEAF funding? Local Energy Assessment Fund: “Aims to resource work by community groups to understand their potential for improvements in energy efficiency and local deployment of renewable energy.”
We focused on two buildings that are very different, located in two opposite areas of the Borough but serving community needs that otherwise would not be met. They are run as ‘not for profit’ organisations. The community buildings cater for multi-occupancy work successfully and at different levels (children, the elderly, adults community groups, teenagers and young adults activities, etc) so an architectural assessment on the space planning and possible future refurbishment and extensions to accommodate the demands. The buildings would be studied in relation to their current energy use and service systems (i.e. hot water, heating, lighting etc), the characteristics of the building fabric (i.e. wall, floor, roof construction, windows and doors etc.) their orientation and location and their patterns of occupancy. Why was the Grant given to us?
