DUAL ENROLLMENT TASKFORCE Taskforce Charge: Develop recommendations on increasing post-high school DE enrollment at STC

Our Focus To develop recommendations that are  Possible to implement in Spring 2008  High return on investment  Measurable and have a direct impact on DE students registering at STC after graduation

RECOMMENDATIONS  66 ideas were generated by the taskforce Duplicated items were merged Current Initiatives Future Implementation Parked Ideas Over 38 items were voted on by taskforce members 12 out of 38 were selected as our top recommendations

Current Initiatives  Career Center Pages in The Monitor  Jagnet available to all DE students  Automatic acceptance letters to all seniors  Development of “news you can use” segments for high school cable access channels  Removal of registration barriers from HS to STC

Parked Recommendations  One-time large DE Open House on campus  Waive student registration fee upon first enrollment  Provide a stipend to all DE contacts  Expand Beacon advising to High Schools

Future Strategies  Establish a graduation end-of-year event for distinguished dual enrollment students  Develop a need-analysis/ survey for dual enrollment students  Develop additional Marketable Skills Awards

Top 12 Recommendations 1. Establish a Career & Technology Council with CATE Directors (BMST Division) 2. Establish an advisory committee comprising of public school faculty/counselors/administrators (HS Programs and Services) 3. Schedule a mid-semester STC chair/HS DE meeting (Academic Chairs)

Top 12 Recommendations 4. Develop career & technology “maps” of degree plans (HS Programs and Services) 5. Promote the STC Core by developing a crosswalk (HS Programs and Services ) 6. Schedule the early delivery of FAFSA award letters (Financial Aid)

Top 12 Recommendations 7. Create and complete “degree plans” for each DE student (Outreach/Admissions) 8. Establish DE Faculty Ambassador Program (Professional Development) 9. Develop DE STC Faculty Training Session (Professional Development)

Top 12 Recommendations 10. Establish a DE student Leadership program that will orient DE students into STC campus culture (Student Life) 11. Develop a web site under “future student” devoted to dual enrolled students (Public Relations) 12. Direct mail marketing to parents of DE students in English/Spanish (outreach)

Evaluation and Measurement  Each of top 12 recommendations will have the following evaluation and measurement component before implementation begins. What is the project designed to accomplish? What can we measure to determine if it was accomplished and how well it was accomplished? What are the steps to the implementation of your project  What is the timeline for getting each step accomplished?  We need to measure the accomplishment of each of the steps.

Next Steps  Present to Academic Council and PDC  Finalize the top 12 recommendations  Ask the stakeholders to develop the measurement and evaluation plan. Only those recommendations that have acceptable measurement and evaluation plans will be considered for implementations  Implement recommendations for Spring 08 semester.
