Content of the New English Exam Compulsory Part 75% Elective Part 25% (New Part)

Students should choose 3 from the 8 elective parts: Language Arts Learning English through Drama Learning English through Short Stories Learning English through Songs & Poems Learning English through Popular Culture

Non-Language Arts Learning English through Debating Learning English through Social Issues Learning English through Workplace Communication Learning English through Sports Communication

School Based Assessment (SBA) SBA for Compulsory Part (15%) SBA for Elective Part (15%) (3 chosen elective modules, The Assessments will be based on essays, portfolios, oral reports etc

The rationale behind SBA: The students’ “success’ or “failure” will be measured continuously and will not be determined by ONE exam only.

How can we improve our students’ English? 1. The School’s Support 2. The Parents’ Support 3. The Students’ Own Initiative

The School’s Support The English Society The English Corner The English Passport Debating Club Emphasize on Language Arts and Extensive Reading The Reading Club

The Parents’ Support Encourage them to read English books & magazines Watch the English Channel together with them

The Student’s Own Initiative Keep a Vocabulary Book Keep an English Journal Keep an English book in their bag all the time Expose themselves to English

There are MANY changes ahead, There are NO changes in the road to Good English

Thank you!
