La Corse France, à l’italienne

Kind of a mixture between France and Italy, as it is actually an island between the two in the Mediterranean Sea.

Rather independent minded: wants to be its own country, tucked away from the rest of the world, not a part of another country miles away across the sea.

Partly, this is because – historically – the mindset of the Corsican people is geared towards loyalty to the clan (the community geographically close – like that of Scotland) rather than to the governments of Paris or Rome.

Corsica is mountainous. So, farms do not do well here. Grazing cattle, sheep, goats, etc. does do well here.

There are a few Mediterranean crops grown here, though: citrus and olives

Most notable citizen of Corsica is a famous general turned emperor turned crazy:

Napoléon

Beyond being a military leader, even after his disastrous defeats in Moscow and Waterloo, Napoléon actually did do much for France by establishing the Napoléonic Code (updating and making more fair the laws) and reforming the school system.
