Road transport It is the most widely used way of transport. We have a dense road network but somewhere the roads are of bad quality. There are several motorways which link the important cities in Czech Republic and neighboring countries. - The main motorway (D1) links Prague, Brno, Ostrava and cities in Poland.
Railway network It is very dense but not so wide used transport network. The positive thing is that it doesn´t depend on the density of road traffic. The negative aspect is that railways in Czech Republic are slowly modernized.
Other ways of transport There are 5 important airports – Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Karlovy Vary, Pardubice. - Air transport is mainly used for international flights (not because of the small size of the Czech Republic. There are not so many rivers which can be used for river transport (Labe, Vlatava). The rivers are mostly used for transport of large goods. Pipeline transport – it is really important because we have to import raw materials such as oil or natural gas.
