SEN Kent Local Offer Link: ing/special__additional_education/special_e ducational_needs/local_offer.aspx

SEN Kent Local Offer: Direct Funding All schools (including academies) receive direct funding to support children who have special educational needs. This enables them to make their own decisions about how best to put support in place and when. It should only be necessary for the authority to provide additional funding when the cost of individual support exceeds £6000 a year.

SEN Kent Local Offer: MCS Kent has produced additional guidance for all schools (including academies as part of their SEN obligations) on meeting the needs of all learners: Mainstream Core Standards for all Learners.

Mandatory Cost Threshold

Mandatory Cost Threshold Direct funding to schools and academies includes notional SEN funding that enables schools to make provision for support arrangements up to £6000 per pupil

Mandatory Cost Threshold Evidence will be required for: 1. new referrals for SA 2. evidence of use of budget for pupils with SSEN 3. referrals to LA for top-up without SA

How will schools evidence Mandatory Cost Threshold spending? A fair, simple and transparent approach to describe, evaluate and cost interventions can be supported through the use of documentation already in school

Mandatory Cost Threshold TASK: Information needed from SENCOs to inform the Task and Finish group of the School Funding Forum

Statutory Assessment Pilot Update Current pilot (Gravesham, Tonbridge & Malling, Swale) continues in term 1 Term 2 – the pilot moves to ‘local’ decisions during LIFT meetings –All decision makers and note takers will be trained End of term 2 – evaluate and plan for roll-out training to other Districts

Part-time timetables Local Government Ombudsman cases have identified a systemic failure Compensation awarded to families – recouped from schools New guidance will be published
