(FTP) -File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is the name given to the transfer of files across the Internet. i.e a standard protocol which allows the transfer of files from one host to another host over a TCP- based network. ( ) -Electronic Mail ( ) is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients.

ftp - this is used to download files, it is vital for the downloading of mp3 files and so on as it allows transfer of files from host to host. It is also used to upload/send files to websites. - this is used to send files to many recipients through messages that can have pictures, videos, music or anything you desire to be attached in the message. It is also used to communicate with people that are living in other regions without the expense of a phone call as they can just receive your message electronically and reply.

FTP - the File Transfer Protocol is the fastest way of transferring large files from one computer/ host to another. - it has an automatic back-up which means when you edit your files in your local system you can copy it to the host system of the site. - it gives you control over transfer which means you can choose the mode of transfer over the network. -some disadvantages are that it was not designed to be a secure protocol and it causes attacks during the transfer of data.

- it can be sent immediately and replies received as soon as recipients check their . - it does not have to be as formal and structured as typical letters. - there is no need for stamps, envelops or paper neither is there need to go to the post office. - some disadvantages are that not everybody has access to a computer or the software application to use the facility and s are not as private as personal letters.
