Raw Materials University Day “Sala del Chiostro”, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Sapienza University, Rome, Italy The future Recycling or primary raw materials exploitation?

Raw Materials University Day “Sala del Chiostro”, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Sapienza University, Rome, Italy Ore Mining Mining is the extraction of valuable minerals or other geological materials from the earth from an orebody, lode, vein, seam or reef, which forms the mineralized package of economic interest in the miner.

Raw Materials University Day “Sala del Chiostro”, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Sapienza University, Rome, Italy Urban Mining The term Urban Mining usually identifies the whole set of operations (e.g. collection, analysis, processing, quality control, recycling, etc.) aimed to perform the recovery of Secondary Raw Materials or, more in general, in large stocks of materials incorporated into cities (e.g. buildings and infrastructure) and/or also in landfills.

Raw Materials University Day “Sala del Chiostro”, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Sapienza University, Rome, Italy Ore & Urban Mining Links Wastes produced in urban areas, analogously for what happens for natural resources exploitation (e.g. “Ore Mining”), represent a mine to exploit in order to recover secondary raw materials of different nature. Mineral processing Ore miningUrban mining Raw materials processing
