North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credential (NCECAC) EDU 261 Fall 2014

NCECAC Three required components must be successfully completed to receive this credential: 1) child care administration coursework, 2) additional early childhood/child development coursework, 3) a portfolio

Equivalency Options Each required component of the administration credential has one or more equivalency options. These are outlined on the education and equivalency form that child care administrators of licensed facilities must submit to the NC Division of Child Development. Meeting any or all of the three components through the equivalency options will result in an administration equivalency instead of the credential.  The North Carolina Child Care Administration Credential and the Equivalency qualification (Levels I, II and III) have equal weight in North Carolina’s tiered Star Rated License System Handout here

Portfolio For NC Administration Credential A portfolio is defined as a collection of activities that demonstrates administrative skill and competency. There are six categories within a portfolio: Leadership Program Rules and Regulations Financial Management Staff and Organizational Management Public Relations and Community Outreach

Portfolio A completed Level I portfolio has at least 6 specified assignments, 1 in each category. A completed Level II portfolio has at least 12 specified assignments, 2 in each category with 6 in Level II or III. A completed Level III portfolio has at least 18 specified assignments, 3 in each category with 6 in Level III.
