What are the DANGERS of the Internet? Spam Flaming Cyberstalking Spies Getting hooked

Spam E-mail messages sent from someone you don’t know Junk E-mail Do not open these messages…do not answer them…DELETE THEM RIGHT AWAY!

Flaming Sending messages meant to hurt someone’s feelings. Harassing or bullying someone online. If someone does this to you: Save the hurtful messages. Tell your parents, teacher, or an adult you trust. If you do this to someone else: Remember that once you put it out there, you can never get it back. Once it’s out there, it can be traced back to you.

KEEP YOUR PRIVATE LIFE PRIVATE! Cyberstalking Stalking or harassing someone online Someone you don’t know wants to find out things about you…so they can follow you around the Internet and maybe in real-life. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION *Your real name *Phone number *Address *Birthdate *School name KEEP YOUR PRIVATE LIFE PRIVATE!

If you are not sure about something… Spies Watch where you go on the Internet and try to get information from you to give to other people. Advertisements and spam often have this. Watch out for: Unfamiliar E-mails and attachments Advertisements (ads) on websites If you are not sure about something… …do not click on it!

The Internet should enrich your life, not rule it! Getting Hooked The Internet can become addicting. It has been known to take over people’s lives. People who are hooked: Use the Internet constantly. Don’t go outside to play. Spend more time online than with friends. Are attached to their computer 24/7. The Internet should enrich your life, not rule it!
