Our Lord will return to judge the living and the dead St. Peter Worship at Key to Life Saturday, November 10th

Welcome to St. Peter! After journeying through the Sundays of Pentecost examining the life of faith, the season of End Time marks the end the Church Year. These promises give strength and hope to the faithful as we anticipate standing firm until our time of grace has come to end. The Last Judgment keeps us alert that God will judge and no one will escape. There’s nothing to fear through Jesus.

Welcome to St. Peter! There are friendship registers at the end of each row of chairs. Please take a moment to give us your information so that we have a record of your time with us today. Thank you!

For Our Guests If you have questions, let us try to help. Speak with an usher, greeter, or the person next to you. If you’d like to learn more about St. Peter and its ministry, please talk to a pastor or member after the service.

Prayer before Worship O Lord, keep me prepared for the day when You return. Let that day not be one to fear, but to anticipate with great joy through the promises of Jesus. By His work, we stand guiltless on the Last Day and will be brought home to heaven. Thank you for that truth. Amen

Please be courteous and silence all pagers and cell phones. Thank you

OUR COMMUNION PRACTICE In the Sacrament of Holy Communion, we express unity with our Savior and those who share our faith and stand on the teachings of God’s Word. Therefore, we invite to our altar those who are members of St. Peter or members of the WELS/ELS. Visitors who wish to commune are asked to speak to a pastor before the service begins.

Wake, Awake, for Night Is Flying CW #206 Verses 1-3 Text: Philipp Nicolai, Setting: WACHET AUF Tune: Philipp Nicolai, , alt.

Verse 1: "Wake, awake, for night is flying," The watchmen on the heights are crying, "Awake, Jerusalem, arise!" Midnight hears the welcome voices And at the thrilling cry rejoices; "Oh, where are all you virgins wise?

The Bridegroom comes--awake! Your lamps with gladness take! Alleluia! With bridal care Yourselves prepare To meet the Bridegroom who is near."

Verse 2: Zion hears the watchmen singing, And all her heart with joy is springing; She wakes, she rises from her gloom, For her Lord comes down all glorious, The strong in grace, in truth victorious; Her Star is ris'n, her Light is come.

"Now come, O Blessed One, Christ Jesus, God's own Son. Hail! Hosanna! The joyful call We answer all And follow to the wedding hall."

Verse 3: Now let all the heav'ns adore you; Let saints and angels sing before you With harp and cymbal's clearest tone. Of one pearl each shining portal, Where, dwelling with the choir immortal, We gather round your radiant throne.

No vision ever brought, No ear has ever caught Such great glory; Therefore will we In victory Sing hymns of praise eternally.

Great God, What Do I See and Hear CW # Text: Psalms and Hymns, Sheffield, 1802 (st. 1) William B. Collyer, (st. 2-4) Setting: ES IST GEWISSLICH Tune: Joseph Klug, Geistliche Lieder auffs new gebessert, Wittenberg, 1535

Verse 1: Great God, what do I see and hear? The end of things created; The judge of mankind shall appear On clouds of glory seated. The trumpet sound; the graves restore The dead which they contained before; Prepare, my soul, to meet him!

Verse 2: The dead in Christ shall first arise At that last trumpet's sounding, Caught up to meet him in the skies, With joy their Lord surrounding. No gloomy fear their souls dismay; His presence sheds eternal day On those prepared to meet him.

Verse 3: But sinners filled with guilty fears Behold his wrath prevailing, For they shall rise and find their tears And sighs are unavailing; The day of grace is past and gone; They trembling stand before his throne, All unprepared to meet him.

Verse 4: O Christ, you died, and yet you live; To me account your merit, My pardon seal, my sins forgive, And cleanse me by your Spirit. Beneath your cross I view the day When heav'n and earth shall pass away, And thus prepare to meet you.

Sermon 2 Peter 3:3-14
