2010 FIFA WORLD CUP™ - DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT PREPAREDNESS Disaster Risk Management involves an integrated approach by all Disciplines, as well co-operation from the General Public - our motto – Disaster Risk Management is everybody’s business DRM has a pro-active phase and a re-active phase Pro-active phase = hazard identification, risk and vulnerability assessment, planning, preparedness, disaster risk reduction and mitigation Re –active phase = disaster response, relief, recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction. Municipal DRM is linked to the Event’s Safety & Security strategy

2010 FIFA WORLD CUP™ - DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT PREPAREDNESS CoCT DRMC staff have participated in 2010 FWC Planning Teams – the focus being co-ordinating the incorporation of disaster risk reduction aspects into all Disciplines’ preparedness and response initiatives 2010 FWC Strategic Disaster Risk Management Plan has been formulated in line with National and Provincial guidelines – this Plan is linked to the CoCT Safety & Security Plan for the Event

DRM WORKSTREAM’S PROJECTS INITIATED TO DEAL WITH 2010 FWC REQUIREMENTS SAFETY AUDITS ARE BEING CONDUCTED AT THE 2010 FWC VENUES BY DRMC AND FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE STAFF DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT EVENT & VENUE SPECIFIC PLANS FORMULATED COMMUNITY & VISITOR EDUCATION CAMPAIGNS I.R.O. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS & REPORTING OF EMERGENCY INCIDENTS – ARE BEING UNDERTAKEN JOINTLY WITH CoCT COMMUNICATIONS WORKGROUP ESTABLISHING EVENT MONITORING MECHANISMS AND PROTOCOLS INSTITUTIONAL ARRANGEMENTS REGARDING STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION BETWEEN MAJOR ROLE PLAYERS PUT IN PLACE
