The Green Insect Repellent Group: Group Members WANG JIALE DARYL CHIONH DANIEL HONG MICHAEL LIU

Rationale of the project Has any of these appeared in your house? Normal solution to this problem Use insect repellents However…

Causes Allergies causes itch and red spots Not green (Chemicals and mainly made of man-made materials. Unfriendly Odour Acidic Substances -Damages furniture (e.g. acid damaging marble) -Bad for health Problems With Normal Repellents? Normal insect repellent

Our solution… Solution: A green insect repellent composing of 3 parts: –Garlic –Pandan Leaves –Used container to contain items Irritating smell is removed but still detectable by insects The next slide will show how it look like.

Product

How does this product work? Crushed garlic emits a very strong smell to keep insects away. Pandan leaves are used to minimise the smell emitted to ensure that the odour is only detected by insects. Repellent stored in a plastic bottle like how an air freshener is stored. Hang it in front of a fan for maximum results

The product’s usage Our invention is a natural and environmental-friendly insect repellent. What is it used for? –Solving the problem of irritating common house insects Keep insects away more efficiently

The uniqueness of this product Natural materials (repellent + substance used to neutralize the smell) Reused item: Container can be used in cans or bottles Does not cause harm to the human body Part of the plastic bottle that is used

Our product vs normal insect repellents The “CLEAN, GREEN, and INSECT FREE!” Insect repellent Other insect repellents Eco-friendly NO smell Not to be applied on skin so allergic reactions will not occur Low costs (materials can be re-used) Pollutes the environment There is a unfriendly odour May cause allergic reaction Made of chemcial

The “CLEAN, GREEN, and INSECT FREE!” Insect repellent Will not irritate humans Made up of natural materials Protects the environment Keep insects away efficiently Keeps insects away using an environmental-friendly way Our promises

Progress During February, our group thought of this idea, initially, it is meant for Category 1. Around March, our mentor suggested in improving our product and told us that this was meant more for Category 3. After a few days, the group discussion wiki is created. On 10 th March, our group confirmed the idea, and started working on the PowerPoint presentation. On 28 th March, our mentor told us on how to improve on the PowerPoint presentation. On 30 th March, the PowerPoint presentation is finalised and the website for the project is created. On 2 nd April, the website is finalised.
