Massachusetts Corps of Fire Chaplains

“Serving Those Who Serve” The Massachusetts Corps of Fire Chaplains was established in 1999.

The Chaplain Fire Department Chaplains are selected by Fire Department and appointed by the Chief. Chaplains provide spiritual and emotional support to Firefighters and their family members whenever necessary. This service is extended to the citizens of the Commonwealth when they become victims of fire, medical emergency or natural disaster.

We represent a wide variety of faith communities, but each Chaplain seeks to minister to all.

Other Responses Our Chaplains have been involved in a wide variety of emergency and disaster responses… including… Hurricane Katrina, Virginia Tech shootings, Kentucky church shootings, Hurricane Gustav… The December 2008 ice storms…

And, of course… Many, many fires, MVCs and other incidents around the state.

Our Training Our Fire Chaplains come with training in pastoral care and receive further training in many areas including: Pastoral Crisis Intervention Emotional & Spiritual Care in Disaster

A Chaplain for Your Department If you do not have a Chaplain, we will work with you to start a chaplaincy program. It is important to establish a relationship with the Chaplain before a critical need arises. Expectations must be discussed. SOGs should be adopted.

Working Side By Side The Fire service seeks to protect lives and property. The Fire Chaplain seeks to protect the emotional and spiritual health of firefighters and those affected by tragedy.
