Q2. How does your media product represent particular social groups? In our opening title sequence we have two main characters, the Antagonist and the protagonist. The Antagonist is portrayed as a obsessive individual, who stalks the protagonist throughout the opening title sequence. In our opening title sequence the main focus is on the Protagonist and little is revealed about the victim.

Mise en Scene We chose to keep clothing casual as we wanted the opening title sequence to look as realistic as possible. We chose the Antagonist to wear a black hoodie as it connate his he evil as black is associated with darkness. We used many props which linked key themes in our opening title sequence, we used a ring, photo’s, lipstick and candles to connate the antagonists obsession with the girl (protagonist) these props give you clues about the Protagonist, and suggest she’s a normal teenager. We also use da camera which the antagonist used to take photos of the girl, using the camera heavily hinted the antagonists obsessive nature. We filmed around college as public places are a typical location in thrillers, for example “brick” and “carrie” Filming in a public location feels the feel of “ your never safe” to the reader which in turn makes them feel anxiety. Also filmed in collage connects the viewer to the film as most likely the viewer once went to college so knows the location well, this gives more of a personal feel to the viewer.

The Antagonist Our antagonist is a presented as a teenager with obvious mental problems and flaws in his character, this type of Antagonist is very typical to the thriller genre. One character which is comparable to our one is the Antagonist In misery. We got some of our inspiration from Stephen Kings novel/film and many comparisons can be drawn between the two Antagonists, the most obvious being emotionally unstable. The antagonists shaking of hands in the rejection scene help show he unstableness, this has been done through figure expressions. The protagonist Our Protagonist is portrayed as a normal teenage girl, this is firstly done through her props; a phone, ring and lipstick, all of these are very typical to a teenage girl. In most typical thrillers a teenage girl is the victim, and does not see it coming, which we portray in our opening title sequence. The victim has no idea she is being stalked and photographed by the Antagonist. This is very similar to scream as most of the victims are female and are unaware of the danger until its too late.
